A monument commemorates the servicemen and servicewomen who have served in various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.   It was originally erected to commemorate those who lost their lives in World War One.

Monument characteristics :

A clock tower which has a white marble "Winged Victory" figure on the top.

Arrangements for the unveiling of the Semaphore War Memorial on Sunday afternoon have been completed by the committee. The ceremony will be an impressive one. Lieut.-Col. L. O. Betts, O.B.E. (president of the Semaphore sub-branch of the Returned Soldiers' League) will unveil the handsome monument situated at the approach of the jetty. It comprises a gray granite clock tower surmounted by a marble statue symbolical of peace.

He will also address the assembly, and the dedication will be by Chaplain H.H. Coles. Mr. A. O. R. Tapp (mayor of Port Ade laide) will accept the memorial on behalf of the municipality, and the "Last Post" and "Reveille" will be sounded by Sgt. Harris and Cpl. Batcher.
