The War Memorial commemorates those from the district who died in service or were killed in action in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.  The memorial was originally built to commemorate the fallen of the South African (Boer) War and World War One. The names of the fallen of World War Two were added to the memorial in 1951.

A plaque was added in 2015 to commemorate the centenary of the ANZAC landing in 1915 during World War One.

In 1919 it was decided to erect a memorial to those from Yinnar and districts who lost their lives in the Boer War and World War One. The Soldiers Memorial was unveiled on the 1st December 1920 by Brigadier General Brand.
