The War Memorial commemorates those from Welshpool and District who served in conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The memorial was originally erected in memory of those who died in service or were killed in action during World War One and also lists the names of those who served and returned. The names of the fallen of World War Two were added to the memorial at a later date.

Brig.-General C. H. Brand, Commandant, will visit Welshpool tomorrow to open an avenue of honor, and unveil a memorial in honor of the men from that district who paid the supreme sacrifice. He will return to Melbourne on Friday night.
