The monument, unveiled in 2002, commemorates Vietnam War veterans from Swan Hill and District and  those from the District who served in post-World War Two conflicts as well as World War One and World War Two. 

The scene on the monument depicts the Seventh Battalion being picked up by helicopters during the Vietnam War.
