Mansfield Memorial Arch

Photographs supplied by Kent Watson / Graeme Saunders

The gates commemorate those who have served, died or been killed in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The memorial gates were unveiled in 1921 and were modelled on the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium.  It was originally erected to commemorate the 90 local men who died or were killed in World War One.

Subsequent plaques have been added to commemorate other conflicts.
