The monument commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

Plaques were added in 1995 to commemorate those who served in World War Two.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings in 2015, a plaque was added and contains the names of those from the district who served in World War One and World War Two.
