The Memorial Hall was erected in memory of those from the district who died in service or were killed in action during the Boer war and World War One. 

The dedication of the Kooreh soldiers' hall took place in the presence of a large gathering of people. The service was arranged by the St. Arnaud branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association.
