The monument commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

It was originally dedicated to those from the District who served in World War One.  Names of those who died in service of were killed in action in World War Two were added at a later date.

A wall was added alongside the memorial to commemorate the conflicts that occured after World War Two.
