The Memorial Hall and Free Library which was opened in October 1923 was originally erected in memory of those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One.

The hall has honour rolls in white marble attached to the main entrance of the hall which commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action, and those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

In front of the entrance are two supporting gate pillars which list the dates of World War One and Two.

The memorial hall at Bridgewater which has been erected and furnished at a cost of about £3,000, was opened on Wednesday by Mr Hurry, M.H.R.
Argus (Melbourne), 4 October 1923.
