The Ascot Vale War Memorial was originally erected to commemorate World War One, but a plaque was added in 1989 to commemorate those Australian men and women who have served in all wars and conflicts .

Actual Monument Dedication Date:Sunday 30th April, 1922
Front Inscription

Erected by the residents of Maribyrnong - Bagotville Hill in honour of their men who served in the Great War 1914 - 1919.

Unveiled by Brigadier General H. E. Elliott, C.B., C,M,G., D.S.O., D.C.M. 30th April 1922.

Plaque

Dedicated to all men and women who served in the Ausralian Forces in the Boer War, WWI, WWII, BCOF, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam and various other conflicts.
