The gates were originally erected in memory of those from the Wolumla District who served in World War One. The original gates featured a curved arch which is no longer present.

The gates were rededicated on 24th April 1999 to commemorate those from the district who served in World War Two and Post World War Two conflicts.

on 24th April 1999
