The honour roll plaque lists the names of 13 Toomelah and district Aboriginal veterans who served in both world wars and the Vietnam war.  Included on the roll are Len Waters, the first Aboriginal fighter pilot, who served over Papua New Guinea in World War Two, and Vietnam veterans Terry Stacey and George Cubby.

The Toomelah Aboriginal Mission is an Indigenous community in the far north of inland New South Wales, Australia in Moree Plains Shire. The mission is located on the Newell Highway north of Moree and is close to the town of Goondiwindi across the border in Queensland. Boggabilla is a sister community just inside the NSW border.
