The tree commemorates those who served in World War One.

The tree was grown from a seedling from the 24 Battalion Tree at Melbourne`s Shrine of Remembrance. The 24th Battalion served in World War One. The tree was destroyed by a storm in 2016 and a new tree was planted in time for the ANZAC service on the 24th April 2016.

The original plaque is still located in the Memorial Grove.

This Tree Is A Seedling Of The 24. Battalion Tree
Growing At The Memorial Shrine In Melbourne. 
The 24. Battalion Tree Was Grown From A Pine
Cone From The Original Lone Pine At Gallipoli
Picked Up By A Soldier Of That Battalion
Just Prior To The Final Evacuation From
     The Peninsula 1915.
