To commemorate 100 years of service nursing by Australian Nurses from the Boer War, South Africa 1899 to East Timor, Indonesia in 1999.

Their record of care and discipline regardless of circumstances endeared to them to the Defence Forces, that many lost their lives illustrated their courage, and their endless good humour inspired their wounded charges to fight to live.
