The monument commemorates former students who died in service or were killed in action in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The "Remembering our Lost" Remembrance Garden is located in front of the original school building and includes a stone memorial.  It is dedicated to the five students of Glenvale State School  who served and lost their lives in World War One ; – Lieutenant W. M. Devine, Private D.S. Maunder, Private S. Greenburry, Private W.R. Tedford and Private  J. Gratton.
