The hall commemorates those from the district who served in World Wars One and Two.

The hall was originally built in 1914, and an extension was added in 1925. This extension was dedicated to local soldiers who died in service or were killed in action during World War One, and their photographs were hung in the hall. Funds were raised after World War Two and the hall is now known Tyrendarra Soldiers Memorial Hall.
