The garden of shrubs and trees in Gunning Park commemorates those who have died in service or were killed in action during the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The plinth contains the dedication plaque and a collection of smaller plaques for individual veterans from the World War One and World War Two.  A few of these plaques are in honour of veterans who survived war.
