The park commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

What is believed to have been the largest number of volunteers ever to attend a working bee in the district, have planted 2,700 pine trees on the Lenswood memorial park beyond the sports area. The first tree was planted by Mr. H. R. Green.
